interfacing Altera Cyclone 3 FPGA to a peripheral using UART

Hi everybody,
i'm working in my 1st project in FPGA Altera Cyclone 3 (EP3C25) and i have to connect a peripheral that have only an UART interface to my FPGA.
which interface of the FPGA board i have to use? and how to connect it?
so since i'm beginner, i asked if anyone can help me.
